Cedar Grove Farm
Cedar Grove Farm is situated in the rolling hills of the northeast corner of the Eastern Townships of the Province of Quebec --- approximately 50 miles south of Quebec City.
The basic farm was purchased by Ray`s father, John Dempsey in 1946. At that time it consisted of 150 acres of land with a house, barn and garage. Improvements came slowly as all building materials were rationed immediately after World War II.
In 1963, Raymond, who worked in Montreal for several years, bought the farm from his father and began to enlarge it by purchasing surrounding farms as they became available. Presently, Cedar Grove Farm makes up about 700 acres and is owned in partnership by Ray, his wife Janet and son Jim. About 300 acres makes up hay and pasture land to sustain the cattle; 400 acres is sugar maples where we have between 13000 and 14000 taps producing maple syrup and somw softwood lumber.
